Research is central to our approach and we invest in developing new tools and approaches to support the industry, including new floating wind technologies, self-installing platforms and suction bucket technology – a solution for softer seabed conditions. 

Investing in digital

Digital tools and data modelling  are vital to the implementation of offshore wind projects, helping to assess complex factors such as the optimum foundation type for local conditions. We’re working with clients across Asia, where sea bed and weather conditions are a challenge, using digital tools to apply the right solution by assessing foundation designs against geotechnical risks. 
 
As the amount of installed offshore wind capacity around the world increases, optimising existing assets becomes increasingly important. We help operators to drive down operating costs, extend asset life and optimise performance to add value – as well as planning for the decommissioning of the earliest projects as they reach the end of the operation. Building local support for new offshore projects is also key. We work closely with local authorities, supporting them with regulatory and policy advice including consenting and planning. The offshore wind industry also has the potential to be part of the renewable energy production of hydrogen – an emerging energy for road transport .
